I had a couple days to spare before Tet while I was staying in Hanoi, Vietnam back in 2012. After doing some research I discovered the Perfume Pagoda. A vast series of Buddhist Temples spot the nearby limestone Huong Tich Mountains, many of which are built directly in the mountains’ caves. I decided to make the day trip to one of the most popular temples, Chua Trong, located in Huong Tich Cave. We had to take a 2 hour bus ride, an hour boat ride, and then hike another hour and a half in to the mountains to get to the temple. Upon setting foot inside the cave I was blown away. An immense entrance leads to a series of shrines and relics, stalagtites and stalagmites litter the temple’s ceiling and floors. People come from all over Vietnam to pray here. A truly amazing experience. I put together this little photo essay from the trip for you to enjoy! Thanks for reading!
