Cuba – A Photo Essay

With the recent news regarding US/Cuba relations, I felt it appropriate to post a collection of photos from the two weeks I spent there in February of 2014. I’d always wanted to travel throughout Cuba and on a whim I decided to make it happen. I did some research to figure out how I could get into the country without being on a tour (shoot me a message here and I will share some tips on the process), and off I went.
When I arrived in Havana I felt as if I had been transported back in time to the 1950’s.  Antique cars, pockmarked buildings, and vivid colors filled the streets. Everyone I encountered was friendly, and while I was initially unsure how my presence would be received, everyone warmly welcomed me as an American. Over the course of two weeks I explored Cuba by bus – from the tobacco fields of Vinales to the bustling sea port of Santiago, all of my experiences were amazing and beyond what I could have imagined. If Cuba is on your list of must-visit destinations, I highly recommend visiting sooner rather than later. Take a look through the photos and enjoy!
Oh, and please excuse the radio silence of the past months. Since we last spoke I’ve traveled a ton, occasionally stopping in NYC and LA, and am now settled in San Francisco. I completed the first semester of my MFA in Photography at the San Francisco Art Institute where I have been working on some exciting new photography projects. I’m thrilled to get back to blogging more regularly, and have a bunch of new photos from Asia and Latin America to share in the coming months.  Feel free to subscribe to blog on the upper left so you don’t miss any posts!
If you would like to support my photography and are still looking for a last minute gift, I have a 20% off print sale going on until December 22nd on the Adam Allegro Photography website. Use the coupon code SNOWMAN at checkout and pick up a gift for yourself or a loved one! (If you are interested in custom prints of Cuba, please send me a message)
As always, thanks for your continued support! The past two years have been a wild ride and I’m excited for what the future holds.
