While trekking around Costa Rica’s rain forests, one is treated to a myriad of beautiful critters, foreign bird songs, and a lush surrounding of vivid green. I was lucky enough to catch these butterflies busy at work (not exactly sure what they were doing, although the second looks to me to like some kind of butterfly date). The Tiger-mimic Queen (Lycorea halia atergatis), known by its unique yellow antennae and white spots near/on its head, was everywhere. Since all the butterflies seemed oblivious to the hulking Redhead towering over them, I was able to take my time composing and shooting both photos below.
