On Tuesday I am heading down south to Costa Rica for 9 days with my mom. Its nice to spend some time with family after being out of the country for the past 3 years. In addition to being the “Ecotourism Capital of the World” (25% of the country is protected as national parks and nature preserves), the people, food, cities and culture look absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait! I will be blogging while down there so check back daily!
A couple of days ago I headed to El Matador State Beach to photograph the interesting rock formations and vivid sunset colors. I was lucky enough to experience one of the best sunsets I have seen in the past few months. As beautiful and temperate as Southern California is, it usually means sunsets are cloudless and boring. This hasn’t been the case the past few days, and we even received a healthy dose of rain today, the first since I got back a month and a half ago!
As beautiful and serene as the Northern California beaches are, SoCal should not be overlooked by any photographer. Point Dume, Point Magu, Leo Carillo and El Matador are all breathtaking to see. Take my advice and go see a sunset at one of them before the weather gets too chilly!
All of the shots below are from El Matador. Enjoy!!
Thanks for visiting!

Awesome is the first word that comes to mind.
Wow, wow, wow!!! I am speechless!
Fantastic series, Adam. It would be great if I could catch the sunsets next time on on the coast.
Stunning Adam.

Ever image is beautiful, Adam. Since I live on the other coast, we don’t get such fantastic sunsets.

These are just great Adam. I love the last one and great catch of the bird on the rock in the first image.

Dramatic sunsets and drama in the coastline too.
