Fire across the Rhine

I will be drawing 2 names on Monday for FREE PRINTS!  All you have to do to get your name in the drawing is subscribe to the blog on the upper right column.  Good luck!

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.  I was lucky enough to get invited by some wonderful friends to see Crosby, Stills, and Nash last night at the Greek Theater in Griffith Park, LA.  What an absolutely amazing show – those guys can still bring thousands of people to their feet, and keep them standing for hours.  If you get a chance to catch one of their shows while they are still performing, do it.

Now for today’s photo.  When I landed in Cologne a few weeks ago, I was ready to hit the ground running.  The weather decided it had different plans for me.  I ended up crossing the Rhine River and parking myself at one of the riverside bars to wait out the pouring rain.

When the rain finally subsided enough for me to begin shooting some sunset photos (I scoped out this spot a couple of days earlier on Google), the most amazing fire started blazing on the horizon.  Knowing the warm colors would subside fairly quickly, I dashed out of the bar, leaving a full 7 euro beer sitting on the table (which they promptly took away when I left, leaving this tipsy photographer thirsty) to catch the fleeting vividness.  Mission accomplished.

Here you can see the Kölner Dom (Cologne Cathedral) with the Rhine River in the foreground.  Crossing the river is the unique Bridge of Love Locks, the entire overpass covered with locks containing the initials of past lovers.  Really cool stuff!

Enjoy!

Thanks for visiting!
