Risking Life and Limb

After a fantastic (and exhausting) weekend wandering around Torino, Italy, I am back in Naples safe and sound.  Torino was awesome and I can’t wait to get back!

The first of many shots from the weekend I wanted to share is full or danger and stupidity.  Who out there times traffic and trolley passings in order to sprint to the middle of the road, snap a photo, and run back out of the street before he is hit by a large moving vehicle?? Well, a photographer without much regard for his well-being, that’s who.  Truth be told, I was never really in that much danger, but I suppose I could have been.  Maybe it was the happy hour drinks that relaxed my nerves and numbed my judgement.  Either way, as a photographer, when you see an opportunity, you jump in head first.  I recognized this composition from the sidewalk and knew I needed it.  I hope you enjoy!!

Thanks for visiting!

  4. No risk, no reward is what they say. Sometimes we take a slight risk to get a great shot like you’ve done here. Every situation is different.

    Really cool night shot, Adam!

Wonderful night shot. Grazie for risking life and limb for us.

  9. Nice composition and I like the starbursts on the lights you got (likely with a small aperture yes?)
I really like that the street car lines weren’t lost in post processing either. They really add to the scene I think.

Since you were four years old, you have been cautioned, “Safety First”, right?

As of the known jeopardies from Italian drivers with this photo setup and the risks to get, I suppose I need to mention it again … Adam, Safety First.

  15. I can see why you wanted to dice with death! Nice to know you survived – and the image was worth it! Better pack a fluorescent jacket for this sort of shot next time. LOL!

  17. Jeez, Adam, this is one of my favorite shots of yours! And that’s no easy feat, you’ve really delivered some jaw-dropping shots since we’ve met here! Love the sense of fluid motion from the light trails as set against the rich architectural details in the background there. Top drawer!!!!!!
