Good Morning all! Thanks to the people who took advantage of the print sale I had going on. If you still would like one at the discounted price, please CONTACT ME and I will make a coupon code just for you
Upon reading my post yesterday, it read as though London was a drag, walking too much, not much detail, etc… I actually had an AWESOME time. If is one of the few trips that I really got to take in a city. We were outside the entire day. When we were tired, we stopped for coffee, ate healthy, awesome food, saw the play Chicago, saw my first movie in 3D (yes, I have been in Italy the past 2.5 years and have not seen one yet!), and caught a ton of great photos.
Today’s shot comes from the Picadilly area of London, around midday. We found this great street performer who would move a little bit when someone gave him cash. That is pretty much the same as all the rest, but this guy was a raging drunk, with fantastic facial expressions and a pretty creative getup. I wanted to capture him while he was still and the rest of the city was on the move. Using my Singh Ray ND filter, I was able to get a couple seconds of exposure to catch the movement without overexposing the shot. What do YOU think??
Thanks for visiting!

I like street captures in B&W, like this one, good on you
I just love these street performers. Not sure how they can stay so still. I love the way you contrasted him using a longer exposure Adam. Really makes an impact.

Wow, this is such a cool shot Adam! I love the motion blur of the people and the B&W!
Super cool motion in this Adam!

Now this one sir, is a winner. very very cool shot!
Love…love…love this Adam. I just saw it on 500px. The B&W works really well with this and I lvoe the “movement” you’ve created in the shot with the cars and people. Really well done.
Love the motion and the B&W. Nicely seen!
It’s a wonderful shot, Adam. I can’t imagine walking around a strange city with the tripod, though. Does it wear you out?
Hey Ken, thanks for the comment, as always. I use to take my big, hulking Slik Pro with me on trips, and that thing was ridiculous. Now, I have a Gitzo Traveler tripod. This thing is pricy (I mean like 8-900 bucks for the tripod and head) but it is worth its weight in gold. Combined with a quick release head and my lowepro bag (all this stuff is on my equipment page), it is relatively easy to do. I get looks all the time, and people constantly come up to me, but overall it really isn’t that bad. I have a shitty back from 3 years of college basketball at the Naval Academy and another 5 years sleeping diagonally in bed on US Destroyers, so I place a premium on comfort. Put it this way, walking straight for 2 full days (I’m talking 8-10 hrs each day) around london, my shoulders were getting a bit tired after the second afternoon. So, sorry for the looong email, but I don’t get too worn out. Let me know if you have any questions!
Ha! What an imaginative shot. These street performers pop up all over the place in central London. You’ve created something pretty special with this – the world passing him by in a blur. Clever thinking. Looks like you had a good if not tiring time in London!?

Yea, it was wonderful, albeit a bit exhausting
Next time I will let you know sooner so maybe we can meet up or organize a little photowalk. BTW, I was thinking, there are many photogs here in Europe I interact with and I would love to all meet up one day, somewhere (I know Italy pretty well now) for some shooting, beers, etc. Let me know what you think!
Really cool shot, Adam. I really like these street shots and most of the performers in most cities give a great performance. This is a creative capture, nice mix of motion around the subject.

Excellent shot Adam. The B&W processing is perfect for this scene.
