So, only a few more days until my first Gallery Showing. I would be lying if I told you I wasn’t nervous, but I am also very excited to show some new people my work. If you are reading this and are in the Naples area, the showing with begin at 730 pm this Friday, 18 Nov, at the Stappo Wine bar in Monte di Procida. Please contact me if you would like additional information. Hope to see you there!!
This past weekend we headed to Padula, Italy for some family tree related searching. Although we were somewhat successful, we did not find any Alliegros around. I will have a nice little post about that in the next couple days. The city of Padula was spectacular though. Situated on the side of a mountain, overlooking the beautiful valley, Paudula seemed like a very serene and peaceful place to live. The shot below is from the Certosa di San Lorenzo which sits at the base of the city. I was only hassled a few times about my tripod, and snuck it out to catch a handful of shots like this!
Thanks for visiting!!

How did you manage to sneak your tripod in? I had much trouble with that when I was in Rome recently. Handheld didn’t do my photos any justice, to say the least.
I have an awesome Gitzo Traveler tripod which folds up pretty small. It is a carbon fiber one, making it light and very strong. I have a great backpack it hides away in quite nice.
what I like most of all is that symmetry, and the warm tone of color too, good one
What a stunning location this is Adam, and well worth sneaking out the tripod to get this shot. The golden colours make it look very grand, and I love that soaring ceiling – very nice indeed!
Spectacular shot, Adam. Incredible details in that ceiling. Only in Italy.
Very nicely framed Adam. The leading lines at the bottom of the image really make this image.
This is sensational work Adam, I love the details, beautiful processing.
As for the camera, it’s tough to say. I don’t think that the D800 will offer me much more than my D700 can, and especially not for over $4K. I’ve never used the D7000 but have heard great things about it. I might stick with that for now if I were you. Now, if you were using a D90 or something like that, then I’d say upgrade. You gotta go full frame eventually though!
Excellent shot, Adam. Really like the details in that ceiling and the overall color is fantastic.
You’ve must enlarge this one to see the real beauty and clarity in the image. Wonderful detail and carefully controlled tones. The symmetry and lines really lead you in. Well done, Adam
Beautifully done Adam!
Wow what a beautiful place. You’ve really captured the grand nature of this site. Beautiful. Let us know how the gallery showing goes.
Excellent shot Adam. The lines, symmetry and colors all work so well together.
Place looks HUGE! Nice shot man.
Great luck with the exhibition Adam! I know what it’s like having those pre-exhibition nerves but sounds like your head’s in the right place and you’ll have a ball on the night.
Fantastic picture by the way. Some stunning details captured.
Thanks Pete, I have a lot to do!!
Amazing detail. It reminds me of a church!
Very nice picture!
The details in this shot are fantastic! I like the way the leading lines at the bottom of the frame take the eye through to scene to the final arch which then redirects the eye to the very detailed ceiling. Excellent shot!
Good lick with the exhibition. Let us know how it went.
I appreciate it Mark! I only noticed those lines after the shot was processed! haha
Beautiful shot, Adam. Good luck with your show later this week, I know you’ll be very well received.
Thanks Ken! I hope so!
Wow a beautiful shot Adam!
Good luck with the research. But be careful, can be addictive.
Hi Adam! I really like the particulars in that ceiling and the overall color is fantastic. Excellent shot your such a pro.

Thanks!! I am going to try and write it up tonight for a post. Long story short, we found an Alliegro Pharmacy, and most people knew the name alliegro, but we couldn’t find the actual address, and gave up after 2 hrs of searching!! The lady in the pharmacy’s husband was the Alliegro, but she was not very helpful. We did get pictures of the pharmacy, town name, etc… So I will try and get that finished after work tonight!
The use of similar imagery on either side of a central axis. The visual material on one side may resemble that on the other but is varied to prevent visual monotomy.
In other words, its images that occupy the same space on the opposite side of the axis from one another in the same composition.
The shot is amazingly done, you create an illusion that the church is huge. And I also like the contrast and the color.
Thanks so much for the post Olivia!!
